INSIDE BEYOND THE BORDER

Inside Beyond the Border, the final program in the Beyond the Border series, explores each of the five films in the series. This one-hour roundtable discussion is moderated by Jeff Ringer, Director of the David M. Kennedy for International Studies, and features, Eric Hyer, Professor of Political Science at BYU, Laura Rauch, Associated Press photographer, and Dodge Billingsley, series producer and President of Combat Films and Research.

In a convivial and wide-ranging discussion, panelists delve into the ideas and insights from Beyond the Border while considering many of its important implications and consequences.

What does the globalization of the conventional arms trade mean for security policy and small-states? What can Americans learn from the era of Chinese Social Realism as a parallel to the larger role of art vis--vis state support? Do the musings of a military scholar more than 100 years ago still hold true, even in conflicts such as Iraq?

Panelists bring their own reading to each film, which in the end, results in new connections, depth, and understanding of the world around us. Inside Beyond the Border, will air Wednesday (Oct. 16) at 9 p.m.
